“We’re working to persuade Algeria to open borders,” Moroccan official

Morocco authorities “are working day and night” to persuade their Algerian counterparts to reopen border, Moroccan Minister of Communication, Spokesman of the Government, Khalid Naciri said on Tuesday.

Mr Naciri told Al-Arabia satellite TV that the Moroccan government “is ready to open border whenever Algeria accepts to do so.”

“All Moroccans are eager to see the day when the borders with Algeria are opened,” the official added. 

“I’d say to our brothers in Algeria that there’s a common interest in opening borders between the two countries; it will set more rapprochement between the two brotherly peoples,” spokesman of the Moroccan government stressed.

He concluded that the existing disagreements between Morocco and Algeria cannot be qualified as “enmity”. “I’d like to confirm that there’s no enmity between Morocco and Algeria.”
